BlueTap Water Network

January 30th, 2009

Salvage Communication is working with They Say Nothing to spearhead a community-based local water network that will reduce waste, provide clean water at affordable price, invest in global water systems and create a new form of direct democracy.

We want to build a local water network using existing technologies that offers pure water at a quarter of the price of bottled water.

Whole-house sized, double charcoal filters combined with UV filters will produce very clean water without having to ship water across the planet only to throw away the oil-produced plastic container. The system will also test the water from source to delivery, becoming the first company that people can trust to provide purity.

The information gained across the network will be publicaly shared so that everyone benefits from the increased safety that knowledge creates.  We will also be a portal for information about local and global water systems, so that people understand the size of the challenge facing humanity.  The company will have a covenant to invest heavily in local and global water systems, and we will let our customers vote on how to apply those funds.

The worker-owned company will have a deep interest in the keeping the local water flowing and play a key role in making the watershed an integral part of people’s identify. As awareness of water grows, people will understand how interconnected the water cycle is and that it must all be protected.

We will be testing the water, reporting the results and offering ideas and resources for the solutions.  Customers will know how much they have spent, how much the company has taken it, how much profit it has made and how much it has invested.  We will empower customers to help prioritize projects and use their personal and financial advocacy to participate in the improving systems.  In the process, we will build a new kind of company that exists between government and private enterprise. This new company will take responsibility for ‘externalities’ and social wealth as much as financial assets.
